About

Vanya Vaishnavi is a designer based between Bombay and Delhi with a strong passion for story telling. She believes that design is an integral facet of building characters, preferring to show rather than tell the audience who they are.

 

She graduated from University of the Arts London, with a degree in Theatre Design, having specialised in Immersive Theatre and world building in her final year.

While at university she worked on several shows as a design assistant and had her piece, James Dream (choreographed by Frankkie Hickman) staged at the prestigious V&A Museum and The Place in London.

 

The transition into film was an easy progression once she returned to Bombay and she has been working in the film and advertising industry here ever since. She has been the Set Decorator/ Set Dresser on many projects such as  Sherni, Breathe Into the Shadows: Season 2, and projects for Clean Slate Films and  Good Bad Films that are currently in post production. This gave her the opportunity to work with  prominent Production Designers such as Sally White, Manisha Khandelwal, Parul Sondh, Kazvin Dongar, Rajiv Panjabi and Devika Dave - And Celebrated Directors such as Amit Masurkar, Mayank Sharma, Randeep Jha, Vishal Bhardwaj and Anurag Kashyap.

 

Independently she has been the Designer for the International Emmy nominated: Vir Das for India, Jestination Unknown and music videos for Raghav Meatle, Priya Ragu and more.

 

Parallel to this, Vanya continues to explore and design Immersive Theatre and Live Events, working closely with production houses such as the Crow Experience, based in Delhi.
